Our Letting Agent in Lincoln:-

TYING the knot with his long term girlfriend was the catalyst that prompted Graham Foottit to enter the buy to let market.

Faced with the option of selling his property and moving into his wife’s house, Foottit decided to rent it out to a friend instead.

Eleven years on and now Foottit combines a career in sheet metal working with a thriving portfolio of 15 properties in the picturesque city of Lincoln.

“Entering the buy to let market wasn’t a conscience decision, explains Foottit: “It was simply a case of helping out a mate who needed somewhere to live.

“I’d always imagined that running a buy to let portfolio was a time-consuming and complicated business, but after a couple of years I was hooked and expanded my portfolio.”

Foottit is just one example of a rapidly expanding team of highly experienced and successful landlords to join LettingAgent.com to let out properties in the UK.

Foottit believes his experience as a landlord and strong work ethic gives him the edge over traditional letting agents, he says: “In the 11 years I have been in buy to let I have not had one void period, that’s because I’ve learned what the tenants wants and can deliver it.

“I have always had an interest in property, he adds: “I do a lot of the work myself, from painting and decorating to electricity and plumbing, so I can save landlords a fortune in call out fees. I also have an excellent team of tradesmen on hand that give good discounts.”

Foottit, a father of three has chosen to let out properties in the Lincoln area because he was born and raised there and knows the city best.

“Lincoln has a good, buoyant letting market that appeals to professionals and families alike says Foottit: “It is an immensely charming, historical city with a picturesque castle and cathedral and plenty of good restaurants and shops.

“The city has recently built a new university which is providing plenty of letting opportunities for the student market.

“As the only Lincolnshire city for 35 miles, Lincoln serves a large population of city and rural dwellers, he adds: “Lincoln is only an hour and a half away from London by train, so lots of people wanting to strike the perfect work/life balance are choosing to live in Lincoln and commute to the capital. And this number will increase if the proposed direct link between Kings Cross and Lincoln gets the go ahead.”

Foottit believes one of the strengths of LettingAgent.com is that as landlords they fully understand the pressures involved in buy to let. “We understand the pressure and problems involved in running your own business. The credit crunch may be gripping the country, but so far it hasn’t affected house prices in Lincoln, which appear to be holding their own, says Foottit.

“Landlords should sit tight and take a long term view on their investment, adds Foottit: “the good news is that a weakening sales market will boost demand in the rental market, which is great for landlords who should be able to achieve maximum rental values.”
