Weybridge is a town in Surrey with the River Thames, the Wey and the Bourne all running round the town. Not surprisingly certain areas are prone to flooding and on some of the private estates, on the river banks, the houses are built on stilts.
Weybridge’s shopping areas are broken into two or three being the High Street, with shops such as Boots, W.H.Smith, and Waitrose and smaller more unique stores in the Monument Hill and Queens Road areas.
Oatlands Palace was built by Henry VIII and when it was pulled down in 1650 the bricks from its walls were used to line the new Wey Navigation Canal. Now standing on part of the site is the Oatlands Park Hotel.
The old Brooklands aerodrome and race circuit is now the location for Brooklands Museum. It was also the home of Vickers the aeroplane construction company.
Mercedes Benz have recently built a new state of the art showroom and eventually also on site will be a conference centre and hotel.
The railway opened in Weybridge in 1838 when it was just a village. Today they run a frequent service to Waterloo and with Weybridge being very close to the M3 and M25 motorways and also the A3 commuting is easy.
It is because of accessibility and location that Weybridge is the UK Headquarters to companies such as Toshiba, Sony and Procter and Gamble.

Also close to Weybridge is the Vetinary Laboratories Agency of DEFRA. The lab is one of the main centres for testing H5NI virus – known as Bird Flu.
For many years the canoe club, bowls, cricket and rugby clubs have served the area.
There are many restaurants, public houses and café/bars in Weybridge and people travel from the smaller nearby villages for an evening out.
Weybridge has many noteable figures in residence Cliff Richard, Michael Aspel and Bernard Cribbins and several members of the Chelsea football team to name but a few.
