This is a large village in Surrey bordering Windsor Great Park.
Virginia Water Lake lies in Windsor Great Park and was originally merely a stream. It has existed since at least the 1`7th century. The shores of this lake have been used for scenes in the Harry Potter films.
The village is home to the more elderly and certainly wealthier people of the nation. It is one of richest locations in England,
Many of the houses are large detached homes on the private Wentworth Estate. This estate lies in close proximity to the Wentworth Club, a golf centre with four courses and is home to the PGA European Tour headquarters. The estate has been home to Sarah Ferguson and Edward VIII and was where General Augusto Pinochet was kept under house arrest before his extradition order. Several other famous people have or have had property on the estate including Elton John.
Virginia Water has many commuters within in the village, as it is easily accessible via the M25 and M3 motorways that are nearby. The railway station is in the middle of the village with lines to Waterloo, Weybridge and Reading.
The area is well known for horse riding establishments and is close to Ascot Polo Centre.
There are several small shops set on two roads in the village but larger towns are quite close.
