Telford has a shopping centre with a good selection of shops and a Toy Box Creche. Shops in the centre include Ethel Austin, Fruit of the Loom, Outfit, Elivi Ltd. Wallis, Miles, Scotts and Jack Moody. There is also a retail park close to town.
Telford is close to the A5, A518 and A442. The M54 was complete in 1983 connecting the town to the M6.
There have been some job losses in the town lately with MOD’s Defence Logistics Organisation at Sapphire House relocating to Bristol. A local sugar been factory also closed this year.
As some firms leave the town others move in and there are now several technology companies have businesses in Telford including EDS, Capgemini and Fujitsu.
