Property Information

The area on which Milton Keynes has been built was mainly farmland and small villages but evidence has been found of a settlement dating back to the Bronze Age. Proof of other settlements eras has been found such as Iron Age, Anglo-Saxon and Medieval.

In the 1960’s the area was earmarked for a large New Town/City. It was to be the biggest yet, with an estimated population of 250,000.

The site was chosen because it was the same distance from London, Leicester, Birmingham, Oxford and Cambridge. The scheme included lakes and parklands which were to be appreciated then and now by the residents.

The major roads are called grid roads and traffic is fast and free flowing and congestion doesn’t seem a problem due to there being plenty of alternative routes to all destinations. There is a network of cycle paths allowing the fast moving traffic and cycles to be separated.

Close to Milton Keynes is the open air National Bowl, which holds 65,000 spectators and stages large scale concerts. It is sited on the A5 near Furzton.

In Wadendon on the edge of Milton Keynes is the The Stables, a venue offering many types of musical evenings and with which Cleo Lane and Johnny Dankworth are closely associated. It also holds a summer camp for budding young musicians.

The Milton Keynes Theatre is large enough to seat 1400 and the ceiling can be lowered to a make a smaller theatre for some productions.

The M1 runs to the east of Milton Keynes and can be accessed at junctions 13, 14 and 15a. The A5 runs west of the town.

Property for rent is in plentiful supply with prices in the region of £475pm for a l bed house, £560-£670pm for a 2 bed house and for a 3 bed house £695-£875pm. A l bed flat would be from £475pm and a 2 bed flat £595pm.

Milton Keynes has two multi-complex cinemas, an art gallery and a very large covered High Street shopping area with stores including John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, Next, Coast, Bhs and Woolworths trading there.

Sports people are well catered for in Milton Keynes. There are professional teams in football, ice hockey and basketball along with clubs for amateurs and for those attaining national level.
