Market Harborough is a town in the Welland Valley area of Leicestershire. The town dates back to the 13th century but nowadays it is a modern town with plenty of traditional values.

The town has several old buildings, the best being the Old Grammar School, St. Dionysius Church and the Town Hall. These are all situated in the High Street.

The town has a covered market three days a week and shopping areas including Manor Walk with its cafes and coffee shops plus a variety of independent shops.

St. Mary’s Place offers a pedestrianised shopping area with shops such as Rosebys, Boots, Argos, Wilkinson and Sainsburys.

Further south of the High Street shops include WHSmiths, Burtons, Dorothy Perkins and on The Square Woolworths and Lunn Poly.

The town is host to a theatre, two nightclubs and a plentiful supply of public houses and restaurants.

Sport is well catered for in Market Harborough. There is a leisure centre with pools, gym and badminton courts. There’s a rugby club, indoor bowling hall, tennis courts and bowling greens, cricket ground and squash club. Just outside the town there is speedway track, a golf course and horse racing can be seen a short distance away. There are also facilities for cycling and skateboarding.

Foxton Locks is a place well worth visiting. These are two sets of 5 staircase locks attracting a large amount of tourists. Property for rent is always available with costs around £525pcm for a l bed flat, £550pcm for a 2 bed flat and £695pcm for a 3 bed house.

Market Harborough is on the Midland Main Line railway with services to St. Pancras taking lhr l0mins. Northbound trains run to Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds and York.
