Loughborough is a town in Leicestershire.
The town is serviced by Midland Main Line Railways with high speed links to London, Nottingham, Sheffield and Leeds.
It is approximately two miles from junction 23 of the M1 motorway.
Shopping is good in Loughborough with Market Place and Market Street being pedestrianised. The Rushes Shopping Centre was built recently on the former bus station site and is occupied mainly by chain stores. Churchgate Mews is home to many independent shops. Some of the shops to be found in town include Tick Tock, Pink, Caroline James, Sugarjet, Whalley Fine Clothes, V.C.Clothing and Top Casuals.
The town holds several events throughout the year and include the Loughborough Canal Festival, this began in May 1997 and is on Chain Bridge and attracts around 10,000 people.
Party in the Park was started in 1980 and the event includes stalls, food, children’s programmes, circus and dance performers and live music.
November is the time for the annual street fair and closes the A6 and other roads. It runs from Wednesday to Saturday and consists of many rides, arcades and stalls. These include food stands serving brandy snaps, Grantham biscuits, and mushy peas with mint sauce. Of course, burgers and hot dogs are also available.
The Great Central Railway has steam trains running every week throughout the year.
The town is also home to a cinema and theatre and a bowling alley is under construction.
There is property for rent in Loughborough with prices of around £380pcm for a one bed flat and £550pcm for a two bed flat.
Loughborough University is well known for its research, development and education. It has the largest sports scholarship in the UK and at present 250 international athletes are studying and training at the university.
Many famous sports personalities have attended the university including Sebastian Coe, Paula Radcliffe, David Moorcroft, Steve Beckly and Tanni Grey-Thompson.
