Frome is a medium sized town in Somerset
It was known as a weaving town and the weavers cottages can still be found.
There are several Grade II listed buildings and an art centre (the Black Swan) also in town are theatres the Merlin and the Memorial. The Cheese and Grain is a converted farm warehouse and is now a market and concert hall built in 1997.
The Frome Festival is held the first Friday in July and carries on for two weeks holding around 160 events in town.
Frome is lucky enough to have several fine buildings and they include the Market Hall Museum and the School of Art.
The town’s chief industries are brewing, art metal work, printing, metal founding and manufacture of cloth, silk tools and cards for wool dressing. Dairy farming is also prominent in the area.
