Chertsey is a Surrey town, on the River Thames. It can easily be reached via the M25 motorway, junction 11.
Chertsey originally grew around Chertsey Abbey which was founded by the Bishop of London.
St. Ann’s Hill is just outside town and includes a bronze-age hill fort site and a medieval chapel. It is 240ft. at the top and has spectacular views across the surrounding area.
In the 18th Century Chertsey Cricket Club was one of the strongest in the country.
Chertsey has a busy high street with plenty of shops and newsagents, Sainsbury’s is the local supermarket. Also in the high street is a museum, and the historical Old Town Hall, together with a variety of restaurants and public houses.

Chertsey Meads is a 170 acre site of open land, known for its walks, wildlife and picnic areas. Horses may be ridden on this land. It is also home to the Chertsey Annual Show, which is a weekend of show jumping, showing and demonstrations of draycarts, agricultural machinery and cattle shows, usually held in August. There are also marquees of craftwork, cookery and flower arranging and of course the necessary beer tent.
The Chertsey Caravan and Camping site situated on the River Thames at Chertsey Bridge has won awards for its site.
Just down the road is Thorpe Park, Britains first theme park, on land which was originally a gravel pit. The Park is now massively popular and brings many jobs and visitors to the area.
