Brentford is in West London close to theRiver Thames and the Grand Union Canal. It was, until fairly recently, a run down area near Chiswick and Kew.
Developers saw the potential in the brown field sites that over looked the River Thames.
Some of the first new builds were finished around seven years ago are Kew Bridge House and Regatta Point, two bedroomed flats here now start at £350,000.
The Great West Quarter is to be completed in 2008 and will consist of 800 homes and a 25 storey tower building with a luxury hotel, shops and offices.
Just off the High Street are the Georgian family homes of The Butts, these properties now start at £800,000.
Flats conversions and terraced homes can be found in the side streets between Windmill Road and Ealing Road and cost around £200,000.
The High Street is not great and is in need of updating but it does house the Waterman’s Arts Centre this also incorporates a cinema.
Brentford Dock flats are built alongside the Grand Union Canal this is still used for leisure craft.
Brentford is close to Boston Manor and Northfields tube stations and Brentford mainline station is on the Waterloo line. The A4 major road is approximately one mile away from the High Street.
Schools in the area are good with some senior schools achieving very good results in 2007.
There are plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants in Brentford giving a good nightlife.
The average price for rental properties are for a l bed flat is £950pcm, for a 2 bed flat £1200pcm and for a 3 bed house £1800pcm.
There are several large companies in Brentford including Allianz Cornhill Animal Health, on the old Lucozade site Audi are building their European Headquarters, Carrion, Brompton Bicycles and the headquarters of both Datapoint and GlaxoSmithKline are also in Brentford. Other companies include Heidelberg Graphic Equipment Ltd, Kraft Food International, Sega, Tie Rack Corporation Neckwear and Waterstones Book Sellers Ltd.
