Boston is a small town and port in Lincolnshire. In the 1800’s Boston was a working port with a good fish trade and exporting grain and fertilizer and importing timber. The town has had an increase in immigrants of late mostly from Portugal and Eastern Europe.

Dynamic Cassette International is now one of the largest manufacturing employers in Boston. A new shopping centre opened recently and large companies have come to the town for the first time including TK Maxx, SportsDirect.Com and Gala Bingo. Some of the shops in the town are Adams, Timothy Guy, De Ja Vu, Legends and Goodfella’s Clothing.

The Boston May Fair has been held annually since 1125. It is opened at 11am by the town mayor on the May Day Bank Holiday. It is one of the larges outdoor fairs in England.

The Princess Royal Arena is to be found at The Boardside and has good facilities for the disabled members of the community. St. Botolph’s Church is England’s largest Parish Church and is better known as The Stump. This is the name given to the church spire that can be seen twenty miles away.

The Hussey Tower was built around 1460. Blackfriars is a 13th century friary and Customs House was built around 1725 at a cost of £365.
