Property Information

Bicester is one of the rapidly growing towns in Oxfordshire. This, like several others, is mainly due to it being situated close to the M40 motorway, junction 9, which links the town to both London and Birmingham.

Bicester’s history is traceable back as far as the Saxon times. The name Bicester means ‘The Fort of the Warriors’.

The town has been linked with the military for many years. There was a Royal Air Force station in the town, now the Bicester Airfield and is used by the local glider club. The British Army’s largest ordnance depot was located just on the outskirts of the town and had its own internal railway system, the Bicester Military Railway.

The town is supported by two railway stations Bicester Town and Bicester North is served by Chiltern Railways and has services to London and Birmingham.

The town is within easy walking distance of Bicester Village Shopping Outlet, a well known designer retail park, this is a very popular outlet attracting many shoppers throughout the year.

Also in town are two Tesco stores and a Sainsbury’s supermarket will be one of many shops and bars to be situated in the redeveloped town centre, work is to start in 2008. The area will also include a six screen cinema.

Oxfam, the famine relief charity has an emergency warehouse near the town. Property for rent is readily available with average prices of £680pcm for a 2 bed house and £880pcm for a 3 bed house
