Our Letting Agent in Kingston Upon Thames, Surbiton and Thames Ditton:-
WHEN Raul DaSilva emigrated to Britain from South Africa, starting a business was at the top of his agenda.
An entrepreneur from Johannesburg, Raul spotted a niche in the UK property market, and snapped up his first buy to let investment just ahead of the boom years.
Fifteen years on and Raul continues to ride the buy to let wave, with six properties under his belt in the prime locations of Kingston upon Thames, Surbiton and Thames Ditton.
“My father emigrated to South Africa from Madeira and like a lot of immigrants has a strong work ethic and a good head for business, explains Raul: “He always told me: property and land are the most valuable commodities. Invest in bricks and mortar because if you have a roof over your head son, you won’t go too far wrong.”
Luckily, Raul heeded his father’s advice. He bought his first property in 1995 and now owns six, combining a full time job as a business advisor with a thriving portfolio of properties in London’s leafy commuter belt.
Raul is just one example of a rapidly expanding team of highly experienced and successful landlords to join LettingAgent.com to let out properties in the UK.
Raul believes his experience as a business advisor and landlord gives him the edge over traditional letting agents, he says: “Joining LettingAgent.com is an excellent business opportunity because landlords are well placed to serve other landlords.
“We understand their business inside out, whatever pain they are going through, we have experienced that pain.”
“As the credit crunch bites, estate agents will increasingly be looking to their Letting arm to bring in the revenue. But selling a property is a very different business to letting and to do it well you need someone who understands the job thoroughly.
“LettingAgent.com is not trying to replace letting agencies adds Raul: “We are simply offering landlords an alternative. We offer fully managed at 8% - which is 2% less than fees charged by traditional letting agents. This is a substantial saving, especially in a climate of economic uncertainty when landlords want to keep costs down.”
Raul has chosen to let out properties in Thames Ditton, Surbiton and Kingston upon Thames because he knows these areas best.
“Over the past 15 years I’ve seen these neighbourhoods evolve from leafy suburbia into desirable commuter towns says Raul: “They boast good schools, great shopping, cafe society and trendy bars. With London’s Waterloo station only a half an hour way by train and a big university on the doorstep, Kingston, Surbiton and Thames Ditton offer excellent letting opportunities for professionals, families and students alike.”
Raul believes one of the strengths of LettingAgent.com is that as landlords they fully understand the pressures involved in buy to let.
“We have empathy because we understand the stresses and strains of running your own business. It’s not just work; it pays the mortgage and puts food on your table. It’s a job that pays for your retirement years and gives your children a better life, says Raul, who is married with an 18 month old daughter.
“Buy to let may be buckling under the strain of the credit crunch, but I believe this is a correction after a period of over-heating, says Raul: “If landlords can navigate round cash flow problems and take a long term view on their investment, buy to let continues to be an excellent investment.
“There may be an element of luck involved, but then again - I do believe you make your own luck, he adds.
